River signs installed Fall 2010

Three bulletin boards have been installed at access sites on the Deschutes River in the Deschutes National Forest.  The remaining eight will be installed when the weather permits.  Each bulletin board has two panels to display river maps and information for paddler safety and Leave No Trace environmental information.  There are three maps for each bulletin board – one for the entire river paddle trail, one showing only the section from that access point to the next access point down river and another map showing several sections above and below the access point where the bulletin board is located.

River Safety Signs Installed Fall 2010

Safety signs were installed at five sites along the Deschutes River between Wickiup Reservoir and Bend to alert boaters of life threatening hazards ahead.

Lake Kiosks Installed Fall 2010

Thirty kiosks have been installed at the nine Cascades Lakes at the launch sites.  Each kiosk displays a map of the lake showing the amenities such as campgrounds, toilet facilities, launch ramps and resorts.  In addition there is information for boaters about safety, Leave No Trace Code of Outdoor Ethics and suggestions for enjoying the boating experience.
